Custom Ag Solutions works with government agencies, universities, and private enterprise on competitive-bid contracts, partnerships, and grants.  We focus on agriculture-oriented projects related to risk management, crop insurance, valuation, and feasibility.

 

Many of our recent projects have been conducted in partnership with the USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA).  We are also proud to be partnered with the following educational organizations:

  • Kansas State University, 
  • Montana State University,
  • Utah State University Extension, and
  • University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension.

Most of our projects involve 1) educating America's agricultural producers about risk management and crop insurance and/or 2) researching and developing new risk management programs and tools that increase the financial stability of U.S. agricultural producers.

Our team members have special expertise in the areas of farm and ranch financial management, risk management education, farm and ranch appraisals, crop insurance product development, and information technology consulting.  The combined experience of the CAS team includes key roles in over 30 different RMA projects related to more than 40 different commodities.

CAS' Brett Crosby and Clif Parker Provide Risk Management Information and Tools to North Carolina Christmas Tree Growers

CAS' Brett Crosby and Clif Parker provided risk management training and tools to dozens of North Carolina Christmas tree growers attending the North Carolina Christmas Tree Association's Winter Meeting held in Boone, NC, on February 29 and March 1, 2008. 


CAS' Clif Parker Presents at 28th Milford Aquaculture Seminar

CAS' Clif Parker presented crop insurance information at the 28th Milford Aquaculture Seminar held February 25th through the 27th in Meriden, CT.  The event was coordinated by the NOAA Fisheries Northeast Fisheries Science Center's Milford Laboratory, and CAS' participation was sponsored and coordinated with the USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA).


CAS and K-State Present at the Michigan Farm Bureau's Young Farmer Leaders Conference

CAS' John Mangus and K-State's Dr. Terry Kastens and Dr. Kevin Dhuyvetter presented risk management and crop insurance information at the Michigan Farm Bureau Young Farmer Leaders Conference held in Big Rapids, MI, on February 22 and 23, 2008.  The presentation was delivered as part of the CAS - USDA/RMA Risk Management Education Partnership to educate Michigan agricultural producers about risk, risk management, and Federal crop insurance programs.


CAS and K-State Present at the 2008 Cornbelt Cow-Calf Conference

CAS' Brett Crosby and K-State's Dr. Jim Mintert presented "Improving Your Cattle Risk Management Skills Using BeefBasis.com" at a general session of the 2008 Cornbelt Cow - Calf Conference held in Ottumwa, Iowa, on February 23, 2008. The presentation was delivered as part of the CAS - USDA/RMA - K-State Partnership to develop the BeefBasis.com tool to improve cattle producers marketing decisions.


CAS Provides Crop Insurance Information to Nursery Growers Attending the New England Grows Exposition

CAS' Shylea Wingard staffed a crop insurance information booth at the New England Grows Exposition held at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center on February 7 and 8, 2008.  CAS participation occurred as part of the USDA/RMA-CAS Crop Insurance Education Partnership to inform Massachusetts agricultural producers about the availability and benefits of Federal crop insurance programs.


CAS and K-State at the 2008 National Cattlemen's Beef Association Annual Convention in Reno, NV
CAS’ Brett Crosby and Kole Swanser and K-State’s Drs. Kevin Dhuyvetter and Jim Mintert attended the 2008 National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Annual Convention in Reno, NV, where they presented information about BeefBasis to the Livestock Marketing Council, the Joint Producer Education Committee, and the Beef Production Research Committee. CAS also operated an informational booth in the tradeshow where we demonstrated BeefBasis.com and discussed future decision support tools being developed to help livestock producers more effectively use and evaluate RMA’s LRP and AGR-Lite insurance programs.
