Almost 300 Rhode Island Beginning Producers Attend CAS Workshops

CAS’ John Mangus presented introductory risk management and crop insurance informational workshops to Rhode Island beginning producers to reach almost 300 participants.

First, in March, Mangus delivered presentations at each of four Rhode Island high school locations. Then, at the end of April, Mangus conducted a workshop for beginning producers at the Rhode Island FFA State Convention.

During the workshops, Mangus presented "Farming is Risky Business," a presentation which includes an introduction to risk and risk management concepts.  Attendees engaged in a computer-simulation game where each participant makes operating and marketing decisions on a cow-calf / wheat farming operation.

CAS appreciates the assistance of the Rhode Island FFA and participating educators and schools for facilitating these workshops.

We farm and ranch too!
