CAS Presents Clam Pilot Crop Insurance Program Information to Virginia Clam Producers

CAS' Clif Parker and John Mangus presented crop insurance program information to Virginia clam producers and other agribusiness professionals at a meeting held on September 4, 2008, in Exmore, VA.  The meeting, coordinated by Extension Agent William Shockley and crop insurance agent Rawlings Scott, was conducted as part of a USDA/RMA/CAS Risk Management Partnerhsip to inform Northeast U.S. clam producers about the structure, benefits, and limitations of RMA's Cultivated Clam Pilot Program.

 

CAS' presentation provided a thorough disussion of RMA's Pilot Clam Program.  The CAS presenters also described the operation of RMA's AGR-Lite Program.  The meeting also included a presentation on the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and a discussion of local production and marketing issues.
