During 2009, CAS worked on numerous appraisal, feasibility, and valuation projects.
For 2009-2010, Custom Ag Solutions is partnered with the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Risk Management Agency (RMA) on the following Risk Management Education (RME) and Research and Development (R&D) projects:
- Crop Insurance Education for Massachusetts Producers (MassAgRisk.com). For this project, CAS is currently working with the following organizational partners:
- Massachusetts FFA Association;
- Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation;
- Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association;
- Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association; and,
- Massachusetts Association of Dairy Farmers
- Research and Development of a Cattle Basis Risk Analysis Tool (CBRAT) and the BeefBasis.com website (BeefBasis.com). CAS' is being assisted on the project by Kevin Dhuyvetter (K-State) and James Mintert (Purdue).
- Development of LRP and AGR-Lite Decision Support Tools for Livestock Producers (AGR-Lite.com). Researchers from Kansas State University's Department of Agricultural Economics are partnered with CAS on this project.
- Risk management education programs are being delivered to beginning producers in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, and South Dakota.
- Risk management training programs are also being delivered to
- Livestock and vegetable growers in North Carolina and Virgina;
- Christmas tree growers in Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Wisconsin; and,
- Livestock producers in Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington:
- During 2009-2010, CAS is also a partner on the following USDA/RMA projects:
- Crop Insurance Education for Utah Producers (Utah State University Extension);
- Crop Insurance Education for Rhode Island Beg. Producers (University of Rhode Island);
- Crop Insurance Education for New Hampshire Beg. Producers (NH Cooperative Extension);
- Crop Insurance Education for Wyoming Beg. Producers (UW Cooperative Extension);
- Crop Insurance Education for Delaware Beg. Producers (Delaware Dept of Agriculture);
- Research and Development of a Water Allocation Risk Analysis Tool (WARAT) (Kansas State University).
- For 2009-2010, CAS remains a partner with Montana State University on a USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) Project to Quantify the Value of Recreational Amenities as a Means of Ecologically Sustaining Small and Medium-Sized Farm and Ranch Profitability (COVRA) (Montana and Wyoming).
